hello! i’m aidan
I am a young, queer, mixed-ethnicity human; organizer, facilitator, and growing critical theorist/futurist; and dedicated to the people-powered fight for a better future.
I took this photo at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in San Diego, CA. It reminds me of a passage from one of my favorite books, Emergent Strategy, by adrienne maree brown:
“When a goose is injured during migration, two geese will land with it and stay until it heals or dies, then catch up with their flock. Flocking is fundamentally about decentralizing the effort for safety and trusting leadership to come from any edge of the flock.”
roles
adrienne maree brown guides us to learn from nature and build decentralized decision-making, interdependent communities, and collective power. Positions are temporary, but the work is not. Right now, I’m honored to be pushing for change in these roles:
-
In 2021, the State of California established its first-ever advisory body entirely comprised of youth. I serve as the commission’s Vice Chair as we work together to launch the commission. We ultimately want to uplift youth and youth-led solutions to California’s most pressing problems.
-
Our Time To Act is a youth-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit I co-founded in 2018. We organize powerful youth for an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future. I serve as President of the Board of Directors supporting our incredible youth-led staff team, with Nicole Lillie at the helm as Executive Director.
-
Nonviolent Peaceforce is an international nonprofit focused on community-led safety and civilian protection. We promote Unarmed Civil Protection to reimagine safety that doesn’t involve further violence. As Community Outreach & Partnerships Coordinator, I have architected a model for identifying and interrupting Cycles of Violence in San Diego and across the country.
-
Outside of my formal roles, I spend time organizing my community and engaging in activism with an intersectional emphasis on racial, queer, environmental, and criminal justice. Facilitating spaces and conversations for change is when I feel most connected with people and the work.

I’ve taken up an interest in Ethnic, Cultural, Critical, and American Studies. I’ve found that the abstract/theoretical nature of these fields encourages me to imagine better futures—and begin to build a path to get there.
sharing with intention
Finding ways to share my passions and visions for this world brings me joy and energy. I really hope my offerings can convey my authentic self and are helpful to you in some way 💛
